1.2. About this Handbook

There are many good books available on the market which describe the Java virtual machine in great detail. So it makes little sense to write another book about this subject, and if you are interested in the inner workings of the JVM or the concrete format of the class-files, please take a look into these books.

This handbook describes a new assembly language for the Java virtual machine. You needn't know some specific details of the JVM, to program in this XML-based language. Everything you will see and use, is described here. The handbook aims at getting you introduced to this matter in the shortest delay, and will give you the whole language reference either, to enable you to write real programs with XJBC.
